Hatha Yoga at NTA

Because Hatha Yoga is not an extreme activity at the beginning level, results can be measured in such things as increased body awareness, increased flexibility and ability to deal with stress and tension. With practice will come real physical changes, along with the breathing and relaxation techniques that ensure a calm mind.
Here are a few points about the class.
- The only required equipment is a yoga mat. Sticky mats are preferred and can be purchased either from the instructor or at Whole Foods.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Remove any large jewelry and watches.
- Don't eat for two hours before class. A little water before class is fine, try not to drink during class.
- If you have physical limitations please see the instructor before class.
- Pregnant women should not take the beginning Hatha Yoga class. Women in menses may do some modified poses.
- Please keep casual conversation to a minimum during class. Many people like to use the time before class to stretch and center themselves.
- Yoga is practiced in bare or stocking feet. Please leave your shoes outside the classroom.
- Never strain in the poses. Postures should be easy, comfortable and steady.
- Always breathe normally during the poses. Breathing should be through the nose.
