With this summer's near-record-breaking streak of 100+ degree days, it should come as little surprise that the dojo has seen many such cancellations lately. (It's been as hot as 107 inside at the start of class time.)<br /><br />To offset these cancellations, Sensei has <em>temporarily</em>* added an increasingly popular weekday morning class at 6:30am. Come start off your weekday with some Aikido training before work or school. Bring a towel and take advantage of our shower facilities before heading off to your regularly-scheduled life outside the dojo.<br /><br />Always check the <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/North_TX_Aikido" rel="external">Dojo's Twitter updates</a> via the Twitter Feed directly on the right on our NEWS page, or via your favorite Twitter client for the latest information about the availability of these short-term classes or evening cancelations.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><sub>*As Sensei has been fond of saying, "It's only temporary, unless it works." No words will be used in the Dojo, whether by Dojo Cho, Students, Parents, Guests or Visitors. Laughter, Kiais, <em>moans of pain</em> or other expressions are permissible as dictated by the rigors of training. Just don&rsquo;t use words anywhere in or around the dojo on this day.<br /><br /><strong>Yudansha Training & Meeting -</strong> Friday, April 29 will be our next Yudansha training and meeting. As before, we will hold a general class from 7:30 - 8:30 pm, immediately followed by a yudansha-only training session until 9:30 pm. Yudansha candidates are invited to attend, as well as other students whom the instructor invites in advance.<br /><br /><strong>Tai Celebration and Pot-Luck Party -</strong> Saturday, we will have our Tai-Sai Celebration and Pot-Luck party immediately after Weapons Class. All Yudansha are strongly encouraged to attend this monthly training session especially tailored to senior students and Yudansha candidates. Two one-hour classes will be held, starting at 7:30, with the first class open to the general student body and the second class open only to Ikkyu and above, unless otherwise invited in advance. A meeting covering dojo business and other topics will be held immediately after the second training session.</li><li><strong>Roadside Trash Pick Up Day.</strong> As part of the annual <a href="http://www.dot.state.tx.us/trv/aah/trashoff.htm" rel="external">Texas Trash-Off</a>, North Texas Aikido will be participating in the single largest one-day cleanup event in the state. We will begin the cleanup along our adopted 2-mile stretch of road around 9am and should finish around noon. Participation by our teens and adults (as well as any willing family members or friends) is highly encouraged. Bring water, gloves, bug-spray, sunscreen and and some snacks and/or drinks to share back at the dojo afterwards. <em>The more folks that help, the faster we finish</em>. </li><li><strong>Second Annual Seminar with Pat Hendricks Sensei.</strong> This particular upcoming event will get more details and more prominence soon, but for now reserve the weekend of <strong>May 21-22</strong> for this important event. There are many projects in and around the dojo that need to be done to prepare for Pat Sensei&rsquo;s visit, and we want to make her visit as pleasant and comfortable as it was last year. We plan to get started at <span style="color:#FF060C;font-weight:bold; ">9am</span><strong> </strong><em>(not 10am as previously published)</em>, so arrive early enough to get settled in, beforehand. Bring gloves, sunblock, bug-spray and a &ldquo;grabber&rdquo; if you have one. Water is <strong>mandatory</strong> for participants, so bring enough for a few hours of outdoor activity. <br /><br /><strong>UPDATE:</strong> Thanks to the few who showed up to help, we collected over 29 bags of roadside garbage, not including the stuff that wouldn&rsquo;t fit in the state-supplied sacks (<em>25&rsquo; length of rebar, anyone?</em>).]]></content:encoded></item></channel>
