The “Aiki Ranch”
Set on 8 acres of lakeside property near the shores of Lake Lavon, the North Texas Aikido dojo is the culmination of a decade of preparation, planning, labor and determination.
A quarter-mile rock driveway winds through the trees before opening up to the view of the dojo and outdoor weapons-yard. Light-heartedly referred to as the
“Aiki Ranch” among the students, it is a purpose-built, free-standing traditional dojo with high ceilings over a spacious 58-tatami training surface.
Plans are underway to add walking paths, gardens and other carefully considered uses of the lakeside acreage.
